Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland
The Ffestiniog and Welsh highland railways take you through outstanding scenery in the heart of Snowdonia. Stretching over a distance of 40 miles, there are always breathtaking views round the corner. It’s the oldest narrow gage railway in the world and climbs over 700 ft from sea level in Porthmadog to the slate quarry town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in the mountain.
The Welsh Highland railway takes you on a 25 mile journey through stunning scenery, passing the foot of Snowdon and the village of Beddgelert from Caernarfon to Porthmadog.

Snowdon Mountain
Runs everyday from March to the 1st of November. Since 1896 the mountain railway has been running from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England. During the 60 minute journey you will experience fabulous views and travel into the clouds. Llanberis has a film theatre which shows a 15 minute film which describes the history of the railway. There is range of shops and cafes available before/after you depart. Departures from Llanberis leave three times a day and pre-booking is advisable.

Llanberis Lake Railway
This five mile trip starts at Gilfach Ddu and runs to Llanberis village.
It runs along the shores of Lake Padarn through Padarn County Park. You will see amazing views of Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales.
The train journey takes around an hour and vintage steam engines pull the carriages.
